Talking exclusively to OK! Online, Tom said: "I'm very proud, it's an amazing achievement just to have the dedication to sit down and write a novel is one thing. "And then for it to be good enough to get a deal and be published is another, and then for people to read it and enjoy it, is an amazing achievement," he added. And joking around about his wife's new novel, the 27-year-old revealed a few secrets about the main character Billy. "She got asked if Billy was based on me and she said 'oh no Billy is all of my perfect men, merged into one, she actually said that'," he added. SOURCE HO HO HO! Buy Dougie's Style Buy Tom's Live Ukulele Version POP superstars McFly will take thousands of fans down memory lane when they hit Swindon on the first stop of their upcoming tour.
The boy band, now a bit older than their rivals, will relive their biggest hits when they play for the second time at The Oasis in April. After performing at the leisure centre in March they tried to shine a light on a mystery cuddly bear that became a tour mascot. A fan gave them the bear, dressed in black leathers, wearing sunglasses and holding a guitar, during the gig and a Twitter appeal took place to find the owner. McFly’s next visit comes ahead of a revamp at the Oasis over the next three years, which will host a snowdome and possibly a 7,500-seater concert arena A spokeswoman for the Oasis said: “The Oasis always attracts big names and it’s nice to secure McFly, especially as Swindon will be the first stop on their tour. “We expect to have another big response and expect the concert to be sold out quite quickly. It is also good for the new development at the Oasis and the new concert hall which will continue to attract big names to the town.” McFly consist of Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones, Dougie Poynter and Harry Judd. The band has five studio albums, seven UK No1 singles, five top 10 albums and numerous sell-out tours. They also had a double reality TV win last year with Harry winning Strictly Come Dancing and Dougie appearing on I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here. Peter Holmes, of Moirai Capital Investments, which is behind the Oasis revamp, said: “At the moment there is only the capacity for 3,000 at the absolute maximum. “ We have had discussions with a potential operator who wants at least 7,500 seats to be available.” McFly will perform on April 19 and tickets will go on sale tomorrow from 9am. Tickets cost £27.50 each plus £2.50 booking fee. The concert is for 14 years and over. Tickets can be purchased via Oasis Box Office 01793 445401 or via www.swindon.gov.uk SOURCE McFly singer Tom Fletcher says he wants to work with One Direction again after writing with 1D over the summer. Tom and his McFly bandmates worked with One Direction on two tracks, "I Would" and "Irresistible," from their new album Take Me Home, and would love to get back in the studio with them again in the future.
"It’s quite a selective process writing for other bands," Tom said told the Daily Star in the UK. "I don’t want to write a song for just anyone. I only do it for people I really like because that’s when you do your best work, so I hope the relationship we have with One Direction can continue." The "Obviously" singer then went on to praise One Direction's international hit song "What Makes You Beautiful" calling it a "breath of fresh air." "I love great pop music," Tom said, explaining that McFly doesn't have a problem with being associated with the younger boyband. "When 'What Makes You Beautiful' came out it was like a breath of fresh air. It’s perfect pop and you don’t think about anything else." "The new Taylor Swift single is the same," he added. In addition to writing "I Would" and "Irresistible," Tom Fletcher also wrote 1D's song "I Want" from their debut album Up All Night. One Direction kicks off their Take Me Home Tour in February and will stop by Pepsi Center for a sold out show in Denver in July. SOURCE Tom Fletcher and Dougie Poynter from boy band McFly have written their first book and The Dinosaur That Pooped Christmas is the hilarious result. It's a laugh-out-loud, rhyming Christmas tale about a greedy little boy and an even greedier dinosaur who manages to take Christmas excess to a whole new level! Tom and Dougie will be chatting to Big Book Babble host James Campbell about their story-writing skills and creativity. Illustrator Garry Parsons joins the McFly lads for what promises to be a real Christmas cracker of a show! SOURCE Does anyone remember long, long ago when Dougie Poynter was the shy one in McFLY? Nope us neither. It would seem the Dougster has been reincarnated into some kind of honey voiced crooner, as McFly have released an exclusive video of Captain Dougwash taking lead vocals on their latest single, Love Is Easy. Be prepared for an ovary explosion. And for any bad moods to evaporate into thin air. And for the sun to come out from behind the clouds and little bunny rabbits to start hopping all round your bedroom. It’s THAT cute. Just incase the original version was not QUITE perfect enough for you, sit back, relax (and majorly fangirl) with the video below. Tom’s got his ukelele out (there’s an innuendo in there somewhere), Danny’s all serious and guitary, and Dougie looks UN-FREAKIN-BELIEVABLY HOT. So that’s good. The group insisted that despite the LP being their worst, teaming up with US producer Dallas Austin was an "amazing experience". "We thought we'd try something really drastic and try a completely different producer from a different genre of music," Tom Fletcher told Digital Spy. "Universal heard a couple of demos and said they were interested in re-signing us. They set us up with Dallas Austin and we recorded the whole album with him. "It was a great experience and it was fun to shake things up a bit." Discussing the success of the album, which peaked at number 20 on the charts in 2010, Fletcher admitted: "Things reached that point where it was hard to pick the next single." Harry Judd added: "If it was up to us we would have released ('If U Seek Kate')* as the first single. None of us wanted to release 'Party Girl'. It didn't even cross our minds that it would have been a single. "It was like a bad version of a Lady GaGa song. Looking back, it really wasn't us." Fletcher explained that although it is the "least favourite" of their albums, they still have "fond memories" of it, adding: "In fact, when I play it back, I like it more than I remember." SOURCE **IT'S 'IF U C KATE' AS FAR AS I KNOW, DIGITAL SPY. McFly have revealed that parting ways with their record label in 2008 was "a lot of fun". The group, who release their greatest hits Memory Lane this week, left Universal for their fourth LP Radio:ACTIVE, which they put out through their own label Super Records. "We left our record label and did this one independently, which was a great experience," Tom Fletcher told Digital Spy. "We really took our time writing and recording it. It was the longest we spent making an album." Dougie Poynter added: "At the time it was the album we wanted all our previous albums to sound like. "The songs were the same as before, but sonically, it's how we wanted it to be. We were in control." Reflecting on their decision to give the album away for free with The Mail on Sunday, Fletcher admitted: "It was difficult to tell how much effect it had. The newspaper's circulation was 2.4 million, which at least got us into a lot of homes. "We were one of the first bands to do it and it not be a greatest hits. It gave us hype and buzz and raised our profile, which was more the aim than getting people to hear the actual album." He continued: "It solidified our fanbase, especially our hardcore fans. It was also our first album we could release internationally. "It allowed us to go to Europe and South America for the first time, which being on a label hadn't allowed us to do before." Watch an exclusive performance of McFly singing 'Do Ya' from Radio:ACTIVE below: SOURCE McFly have revealed that their third album Motion in the Ocean was inspired by Queen.
The group, whose greatest hits LP Memory Lane is out this week, admitted that they wanted to take a "fun and poppy route" on the record. "It was a bit of a reaction to [second album] Wonderland. We made the record in our new flat and produced our own demos. We didn't leave the house for a week and a half and wrote the whole thing. "We intentionally wanted to do stuff that was more fun and poppy. There was also quite a strong Queen influence throughout it." Explaining the meaning behind the title, Dougie Poynter admitted: "The title came from someone telling us about their small d*ck. He said, 'it's not the size of your boat, it's the motion in the ocean'." Danny Jones noted that there are "a lot of fan favourites" on the LP, adding: "There's a song called 'Little Joanna' on there, which remains one of our most complex songs. We've never played it live for that reason!" SOURCE |
